Quiet and darkness filled the lounge as Erick walked in with a candle. Surveying the room through the dim light he shuffled his way to the couch. Trying to be as quiet as possible he sat down and held his hoodie closer to him so he could stay warm. He shivered and sighed as he closed his eyes in thought. He hated being one of the early risers. It was too cold and quiet at this early in the morning, and it was only nearing four. Military school had done that to him though, he was always awake early now.
"Fuck this.." He thought to himself as his eyes began adjusting to the low light in the lounge. "Why am I the only one whose awake at all? Shouldn't someone still be awake because of insomnia or something?" He shrugged off that thought as he surveyed the rooms. Paranoia was part of who he was. Came from his time in military school too. A thoughtful look crossed his face. As he thought about it, Erick realized that most his problems had some root in that godforsaken place. He shuddered again, not from cold but from fear.
Erick calmed down with a sigh and got comfortable on the couch as he waited for someone, anyone to walk in.

Startled, Eden found herself herself on the ground, chill bumps rapidly rising on her arms. This isn't my room. she realized after catching her breath, and recovering from being awoken in such an alarming manner. The ora she felt here was different from that of her room, she was positive.
It was too dark to see much, but Eden could tell she wasn't alone. Strangely she didn't feel as though she were being watched. She looked to her left side, and scooted back almost instantly when she came face to face with a large silhouette. Realizing it was just a bed she calmed down. Boy, she was paranoid. She laughed inwardly at herself and proceeded to stand from the floor.
Upon seeing someone in the bed she realized where she was, in Shaun's room. He'd offered to let her sleep there knowing that her blankets had been stolen from her while she wasn't with them. She was thankful to be in the company of someone she could call a friend, even if he was fast asleep.
"Brr..." A chill ran down Eden's spine. She needed a blanket to warm her, but she couldn't leave Shaun without warmth. She sighed and quietly opened the door of his bed room. It lead into a narrow hall where, astonishingly, it was colder. She made her way down the hall to the lounge. She payed no attention t the young man sitting on the couch, but sat down opposite of him. She pulled her knees to her chest, another chill man her shiver.
"Don't say a word," Eden warned. She had a feeling that strange feeling she was being watched, but it could have just been her paranoia getting the best of her. That wasn't unusual.

Erick smiled as he saw the girl sit down opposite him. "Disregarding that... You look cold." he started sliding his hoodie off to hand it to her. He smiled as he did this. Finally someone to make the painful boredom dissipate. He sat on the couch in his jeans and a long-sleeved shirt with an out of character smile on his face.

"Thank you for the offer, but I'm fine." She lied, as a matter of fact she was freezing, she felt as though her whole body had frost bit. What had she been thinking, Shorts and a t-shirt to sleep in, she'd been here long enough she should have known better. She really should have stolen that blanket, she needed it more than Shaun, although, she would rather be cold than see someone else freeze because of her.
She looked over at at Erick, she didn't recognize him. "Do I even know you?" She asked, surprise could be heard in her voice. You didn't meet someone new in this place often. Maybe they had just never crossed paths. Her paranoia was setting in again, what if he was an undercover scientist. That definitely wouldn't be good.

Erick's smile faded a little. "Well we haven't been introduced, but I've been here awhile. "He threw the hoodie next to her in case she changed her mind. He was fine it was just an added precaution. He quickly shifted positions and was sitting on his knees. He sat his hands in his lap and closed his eyes. To most people he looked like he was praying or meditating, when in fact he was just using the ability the infection gave him. He was focusing his body heat so that he could keep himself warm. He was hoping that one day he would be able to use his infection to warm the entire compound, but didn't think that would happen anytime soon.

"Oh, I see." She looked down at her knees. "Well, in that case, I'm Eden." She stretched out her hand to him. Watching him with an akward expression on her face. That position was just so odd.
The longer she waited, the better that hoodie was starting to look. She considered many time grabbing it and pulling it over her head, but she barley knew this guy, and it just didn't feel right to her.
"Are you okay?" Eden questioned.

Erick opened one eye and looked at Eden.
"Hello, Eden, it's a pleasure to meet you." He opened his other eye and smiled. "Yeah I'm alright. Just thinking and stuff." He knew the hoodie seemed enticing to her. "Go ahead and take it. Trust me I don't need it, I'm warm enough." He proceeded to sit like a normal human and leaned his head back. "So how long have you been here?" He asked while staring at his nose.

"Well, I'm 17 now, so..." she counted in her head. It was funny to herself how she still performed simple math equations by counting them out, "Nearly five years." She paused. "It isn't a long as some people, but I know I'd rather be home."
Was it that obvouse that she was that cold? Dumb question, apparently it was or he wouldn't have offered her his jacket a second time. She started at him for a moment, her brow lifting slightly. "I really don't want to, but I think I'm on the verg of frost bit." What an exageration. She grabbed the hoodie and pulled it over her head messing up her hair. She wondered if her legs would fit into the hoodie along with her torso. She pulled her knees to her chest again, and then tried pulling the hoodie over her knees. Suprisingly enough, they fit. "I owe you." she told him.

Erick looked pleased, he had done something right. Pulling his hands to his chest, he took another look at the girl in the low light, "You don't owe me anything, but even though we just met, I was hoping I might ask you out sometime... Well to whatever 'out' is here.." He frowned.
This was all weird to him. He just missed sharing a bed with someone.1 In the lowlight even he thought she looked striking. His hands shook, so he hid them in his pockets. Was he actually nervous asking someone out? This was new.
---------------- 1 Did not mean that in a sexual way at all.

She didn't owe him anything? What? Then why had he just asked her out, she felt a since of obligation. She squirmed unnoticablly within the casing of Erick's hoodie. She averted his eyes, instead looking at the couch cushion. He was about to panic. She didn't want to hurt his feelings, but she barley knew, come to think of it, she didn't even know his name.
"If I'm not mistaken, I don't even know your name..." she replayed the words over a few times in her head hoping that she wasn't mistaken in saying that they sounded as poliet as possible in this situation. She continued talking, "To be honest, I've never been out anywhere really, even when I was little I was confined to the house unless it was dark out."

Erick's frown intensified a little, he would admit he was disappointed, but he knew she was right, she knew nothing about him. "My name is Erick," he said hiding the sadness in his voice.
He looked at her. "I was in military school until I developed the infection. I never really went out anywhere except with a few of the boys there. Thank god I'm tough otherwise that hell would've been worse." He sighed. He said something personal about himself. What the hell was wrong with him?

"Well see now, we have improvement already." she grinned. Her postion was starting to become uncomfortable. She squirmed, hopeing to free her legs from the hoodie, but it seemed that it had taken a liking to them. She gritted her teeth, pushing her legs down in a manner she knew wouldn't harm his possession. She looked back and forth between him and her legs, which were still encased in cloth. She was making a complete fool of herself. "Ahhh!" she sqealed, her face meeting the cool ground. She blushed. Her legs came free, at least the embarrasment had been worth it.
She stood up and brush herself off. She grinned nervously and sat back down on the couch. "Now then," she laughed out of embarassment. "Military school, aye? At least you were allowed in the sunlight."

He laughed a cute almost girlish laugh. "Let out in the sun? I was forced to be in it. I live for night." He laughed again, his laughter sounding like bells. "You could've just asked me to help." He gave a smirk.
He sat back on his knees again. "So if I may ask, what did the infection give you?"

Eden hesitated before speaking, "Erm..." she paused and looked at her face squnched in unease. "I'm not sure," she was ashamed to admit. She was one of the few who had no idea what was abnormal about them. She clicked her tounge. Sadly she could think of nothing else to add to this, she couldn't even seem to find a way to turn it into a joke.

Erick smiled. "Give it time, you'll find out what makes you even more special." his normally dour and uneasy nature gave way to an uncharacteristic lightheartedness. "If you don't mind sitting next to me I'll show you what I can do." he sat on his knees again hands in his lap.
He started focusing hoping this would work, he never actually tried to warm the area around him before. Erick subconsciously gulped as he prepared himself to use his ability.
